What comes to mind when I say, “Let’s put that on the back burner?” It’s a phrase we use a lot, but maybe you don’t ever sit down and think what it really means.
Does it mean – “Forget *it* completely?” No, it means, “Let’s pause and put our focus and attention on something else, something more important.”
With my clients that have a history of dieting (some since they were in elementary school) telling them that they have to forget weight loss forever is down right scary!
I get it because I’ve been there.
So, I ask you, my friend, to put weight loss on the back burner for a while.
Putting weight loss on the “back burner” just means that it can still be something that you think about, even hope for eventually. I’m not going to take that away from you – especially when you’re so new in this journey to intuitive health.
But for now, I want you to put your energy, focus and time on something different.
What if your “front burner” was filled with finding movement that you love? Or, perhaps you spend your time on learning how foods feel in your body – learning to feel your hunger and fullness again?
There are so many possibilities! How do you feel when you think of putting weight loss on the back burner? Does it sound scary?
If your answer is YES, I’ve got you. Stay with me and take it one week at a time, or even one day at a time. Recommit to putting it on the back burner as often as you need as you heal.
What would you rather be spending your time doing, in the name of intuitive health? What ideas get you excited?
Personally, when I put weight loss on the back burner, that meant I stopped tracking and weighing my foods. I also stopped listening to the myriad of food rules that I had been holding myself to for YEARS. You know what happened? I got SO MUCH TIME back in my day!! It also opened up so much brain space!
If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to not worry about weight loss, try it out for a few days. I’d love to hear how it goes for you and what you learned.
